There are many pharmacueticals that are prescribed to alleviate these symptoms but we'd like to offer some information on herbs that can be used in their place. Also, in terms of diet it is best to remove sugar and processed foods and to replace them with anti-inflammatory foods. This includes foods that are fermented: yogurt, kimchi, saurkraut, kombucha, and kefir. It also includes things like raw fruits and vegetables, legumes, seeds, and occasionally things like wild caught fish.
Kava is a root that has been used to treat anxiety for quiet some time. It is used for many things but most commonly it is taken to relieve anixety, insomnia, stress, and restlessness. It works by stimulating the dopamine receptors leading to feelings of euphoria and calmness.
Ashwaganda is an adaptogenic herb. Adaptogens work by bringing the body back to balance. Ashwaganda contains alkaloids that support neurological health. It works to reduce stress levels and cortisol levels which in turn reduces anxiety.
Magnesium is not an herb but if there is a deficieny in the body it can lead to feelings of anxiety as well as loss of sleep. Magnesium deficiencies affect the central nervous system which is what leads to an increase in anxiety and sleeplessness. When taken it can help relax the muscles, improve mood, and help relieve restlessness.
Valerian Root is used most commonly as a sleep aid but it can also be beneficial for anxiety. It works by increasing GABA which is an inhibitory neurotransmitter and in large quantities can become a sedative. Pharmaceuticals that are commonly used to treat anxiety (xanax, valium) work in the same way- increasing GABA.
CBD oil is one of the many compounds found in cannabis oil (there are over 60!). Most people only know of THC as it is the compound that causes the psychoactive effects of cannabis. CBD does not have the same psychoative effects of THC and has been used to treat many things related to mental health: anxiety, depression, and insomnia to name a few.

1 lb package of raw young coconut meat
1 tsp Elemental Wizdom Probiotics (https://elementalwizdom.com/collections/optimize-the-gut/products/super-human-probiotics)
Place ingredients in a Vitamix and blend! Once everything is completely blended place into a container that is suitable for a dehydrator or oven. The ideal temperature for culturing your yogurt is 108-112 F. If you do not have a dehydrator and your oven does not go that low try setting your yogurt out on the counter or in a warm pantry covered with cheese cloth.
We have been all sorts of fun things with this yogurt! We added a bit of maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg to one batch and we have also made this wonderful mango lassi recipe using the yogurt:
1/2 c coconut yogurt
2 c water or coconut water
1/2 c frozen mango
1 tsp tumeric powder
1/4 tsp cardamom
Pinch of himalayan pink salt
1 tbsp honey/ sweetened of choice
1 tbsp rose water
This can be found on MindBodyGreen at (https://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-20191/recipe-for-glowing-skin-coconut-yogurt-mango-lassi-with-turmeric.html).

Ginkgo Biloba tea is a new favorite of mine! I am always looking to mother earth to support my mind, body and soul and variety is key! Passion flower was a favorite in 2015 and was a staple bedtime tea and a wonderful choice for a busy afternoon that I wanted to run calm and smooth. It was believed by the Spanish Missionaries to be a symbol of Chirst's Crucifixion and was celebrated as a nerve tonic and a way to reduce opiate dependency. It is a sedative and some varieties contain serotonin. It is has been used historically as a nerve tonic and sleep aid.
I just got my large package of loose powdered Ginkgo Biloba tea. After steeping my black tea or yerba mate, green, tulsi or chai, I add a 1/2 tsp of ginkgo biloba and mix. Next I add in sugar alternatives such as raw honey, monk fruit, xylitol, or agave. Yum!
I am so affirmed with my day when I am educated on what I am putting into my body and know the quality is superb. My organic Ginkgo Biloba boasts of many calming and soothing benefits including increased blood flow especially in the smaller arteries. Studies have now shown that Ginkgo may improve stem cell growth. Amazing! It's helpful in calming Parkinson's Disease and would be a great addition to any Mucuna Pruriens seed regimen you may be on. This dynamic duo pairs nicely with Raw Cacao treats and can be added to bars for soothing effects during caffeine dependencies and withdrawal symptoms. Please be aware if you are on blood thinning medication Gingko thins the blood and may be too much if already taking medication.

Cleaning your teapot from time to time is very useful in riding lime scale, mineral build-up from hard water, that accumulates in your teapot. Mix 1/2 C Vinegar and 2 C water in the pot and boil and let sit for 10-15min. Rinse and repeat with fresh water. Voila!
Cheers to your health!

Eating a diet filled with all the colors of the rainbow is certainly important, but so is what you put on your body. Our skin is covered in pores that soak up what we lather on- soap, deodorant, lotion, oil, etc.- therefore it is essential to choose products (or to make your own!) that are not laden with harmful chemicals. The journey to figuring out which products are safe has been a hard one- many things are labeled 'all natural' or 'organic' and still their ingredients are suspect.
Today we're going to share some of our favorite brands as well as ways to make your own body care products. Anything with a * beside it is a local product. We love supporting small businesses like ourselves, especially when their products are wonderful additions to your daily routine!
Deodorant- this is a really tough one. Often times all natural deodorants don't work and after trying a lot of different options these are our favorites. The thing you really want to avoid is anything with the word Anti-persperant in the name. Often times aluminum or other harmful materials are used to stop the body from sweating- a natural and required function of the body.
Be aware that when you switch to all natural deodorants there is a detox phase. The armpits will work their magic and begin ridding the body of toxins found in conventional deodorants. This can result in redness and sensitivity for the first month.
Primal Pit Paste (https://primalpitpaste.com/)
Lotion- Have you ever read the ingredients on a typical lotion bottle? It's barely decipherable! The ingredients are mostly chemicals and it really makes you wonder how we've gone so long thinking that our body gets moisture from chemical laden products.

We talked about Vitamin C last week and we thought we should spend a little more time discussing it. Our Food as Medicine Class will be held on February 17th from 2p-4p. This class will feature our traditional Food as Medicine format where we discuss topics related to healthy eating and raw foods but will also include an interactive component. We will be making Vitamin C Superfoods Immune Hearth Pills using Acerola cherry, camu camu, reishi, acai, honey, rosehips, and orange peel.
This class is $45 for a couple and includes a bottle of Vitamin C pills to take home. If you would like to buy more of the pills to take home they will be available for $5 a bottle. They make a wonderful gift especially during this extremely frigid winter season. You can sign up https://bardosmassageandwellness.fullslate.com/" target="_blank">HERE.
Today we are going to share two recipes for simple teas that are high in Vitamin C.
Tropical Vitamin C Tea
3 tblsp rosehips
1 tblsp lemongrass
3 tblsp hibiscus
1 tsp dried lemon peel
1-2 cinnamon sticks crushed (take cinnamon sticks and place in a small towel, pound using a roller)
Pinch of saffron
Place all of the ingredients in a container and use anywhere from 1tsp-1tblsp per cup of tea.
Why these ingredients you may ask?
Rosehips contain approximately 710% of the recommended daily dosage of Vitamin C. That's 50% more than an orange!
Lemongrass has high levels of magnesium, calcium, and iron.
Hibiscus is high in Vitamin A, C, and B. It is also full of minerals such as copper, zinc, and iron.
Dried lemon peel is high in Vitamin C and alkalizes the body.
Cinnamon is used mostly for flavor in this recipe but is a wonderful addition as it helps maintain proper blood sugar levels.
Saffron is very high in Vitamin C (135% daily dosage) and also help the body accelerate in producing enzymes that break down toxins.
White Pine Tea
White pine needles have up to 5x the amount of Vitamin C found in oranges. It is also known to have antimicrobial benefits that can also aid the immune system. This tea is awesome because not only is it nutritious but gives you a reason to go out and search for a white pine! The recipe is basically this: go out and forage approximately 3 cups of young pine needles, take them home and thuroughly wash, cut the pine needles into smaller segments, boil 3 cups of water, lower the heat, add the pine needles, simmer for 20 minutes.
You don't want to boil the pine needles as it will kill some of the Vitamin C content and also produce a bitter taste.

Our Food as Medicine program is designed to meet your nutritional goals while enhancing your mental, physical and spiritual health. We use synergistic and logical raw material as our food source for intelligence our body can use, transform and repair. Vit C is a miracle material that our body needs to repair. Acerola Cherry Powder
Aronia Berries (Frozen)

Alchemy in it's purist form is a duality of science and spirituality, combining esoteric thought with practical applications. The physical nature of life is laced with spiritual connection explored and expressed through Biology, Science, Physics and Metaphysics. This duality lends itself to conscious understanding, transformation and connection to our natural world and inner world. We study nature to gain intelligence. Vitamin therapies and Raw Food as Medicine is a byproduct of years of research in the connection with disease and illness and Vitamin and Mineral deficiencies. This respect for nature and our fellow man and our pursuit of happiness is the essence of spirituality as we learn to care for ourselves and others.
Accepting first that we don't have all the answers moves us into a place of searching for truth. There are countless Government studies on the effects of Vit C on everything from cancer to pain to depression. Vit. C in structure is very similar to glucose. Cancer cells thrive off glucose. If glucose is not present, it absorbs Vit C thinking it's glucose. Then O2 and H2 combine to make hydrogen peroxide killing the cancer cell and not harming healthy cells that have the enzymes to break Hydogren Peroxide down.
Find a wonderful documentary on the subject along with peer reviewed studies on Vit C and other essential Vitamins at Doctoryourself.com with Dr. Andrew Saul.
I encourage you all to do your research and find the right Vitamins in megadoses that can bring you or your loved ones into a state of health. Amazing information that will put your health into your own hands.
My children and I haven't needed antibiotics since starting on this journey. There are ways to treat illness without the use of conventional medicine as a first resort. I am not against conventional medicine if it necessary, but thanks to Vit C, juicing, Oregeno Oil, Olive Leaf extract and many more resources we have not needed to.

Today we're briding an uncomfortable subject: poop. While few of us like to spend time conversing about our bowel movements it is a critical part of our wellbeing and overall health as human beings. The holiday season can be especially rough on our systems as we are indulging in things that contain higher levels of sugar and salt than we are used to- both of these things are dehydrating and can lead to constipation. If you find yourself having trouble using the restroom we have some suggestions on products that can help get things moving!

In addition to supplements you can also practice self massage on the abdomen area. This helps stimulate the organs involved in removing waste and can also break up any waste that is compacted.
The illeocecal valve plays an important role in the digestive system. The illeocecal valve is important as it acts as a barrier between the large and small intestine allowing each to have their own temperature and pH. The problem associated with the valve is that it can either become either stuck open or stuck closed. If the valve is stuck open there is possibility of waste backing up into the small intestine allowing for the toxins found within the waste to be reabsorbed into the body. If it is stuck closed the waste is restricted from leaving the body which again leads to reabsorbtion of toxins found in the waste. For more information and a short video on how to properly open or close the illeocecal valve using massage visit THIS blog post.
